I'm a Director of Applied Research and Lead Research Scientist with TR Labs at Thomson Reuters working under Dr. Frank Schilder, Thomson Reuters' Sr. Director of Research. My most recent research has focused on legal analytics as well as question answering in the legal, tax and regulatory domains. Through the summer of 2013, I was on assignment for two years with the Catalyst Lab at Thomson Reuters Global Resources (TRGR) in Baar, Switzerland, working under Dr. Peter Pircher. The Catalyst Lab focuses on innovation, collaboration and the leveraging of corporate technology resources, in addition to performing a number of research functions for the company. At the Artificial Intelligence & Law conference in Rome, ICAIL 2013, I was elected president of the International Association for Artificial Intelligence and Law (IAAIL) and served on its Executive Committee for the following two-year term.I'm a Computer Science graduate of the University of Massachusetts--Amherst. My advisor was Dr. W. Bruce Croft, Director of the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval (CIIR) within the Department of Computer Science.
